Brunner, (Heinrich) Emil
(23 dic. 1889, Winterthur, Suiza–6 abr. 1966, Zurich).

Teólogo suizo reformado. Después de servir como pastor en Obstalden (1916–24), enseñó por muchos años en la Universidad de Zurich (1924–53); durante ese tiempo dictó muchas conferencias y también fue delegado en la sesión que fundó el Concilio Mundial de Iglesias en 1948. La perspectiva de Martin Buber acerca de la relación entre Dios y el hombre influyó en su teología. Tal como Karl Barth, rechazó la teología liberal del s. XIX en favor de reafirmar los principios fundamentales de la Reforma, pero su aseveración de que Dios se reveló en la creación lo condujo a una disputa con Barth. Sus obras comprenden The Theology of Crisis [Teología de la crisis] (1929), Man in Revolt [El hombre en rebeldía] (1937) y La justicia: doctrina de las leyes fundamentales del orden social (1945).
